Climate Change

No these are not flood defences, victims of the current public expenditure cutbacks.

That would be like putting two stations of the cross only up in a church.

Wouldn't serve the purpose at all.

In fact, the former could lead to a false sense of security and the latter to an insufficiently filled pass out from the festivities in Purgatory.

No, these bags, ephemeral as they are, are a monument.

They are supplied by the City Council and filled in a day by a hoard of local, and some not local, volunteers, who are determined that the beautiful village of Raheny is kept neat and tidy, even into its byways.

Full marks for community voluntary effort and a bit of local pride.

Today is Sunday. I trust they will be collected tomorrow.
