Readers of this blog, all two of them, will be familiar with the Michael Edwards photo competition.
When I came across it, it had been confined to photo clubs. Then Michael introduced a category for individual photographers, which got a very poor response and was scrapped in 2018. In that year the exhibition, instead of spanning six months with a month for each club and a gala final, was telescoped into a single month.
While individual entries were accepted for the 2019 competition, whose theme was "All the World's a Stage", nothing seemed to be happening and at the year's end Michael shut up shop without notice.
Entries, including my own, were eventually rescued by various means and the clubs involved rallied round to run the competition themselves.
Hence the exhibition in the poster above.
If you find yourself on the North Side, by accident or design, do drop in to see the exhibition. The standard will be high and you can have some fun trying to anticipate the result.
The Judges will be Eamon and Christine O’Daly who also judged the 2018 competition, so we'll have an idea what to expect. They will be viewing / reviewing the photographs from 1 - 18 Feb and the winners will be announced on Wednesday 19 Feb at around 7pm.
This is likely to be an interesting event in itself going beyond the mere announcing of the results. Last time round the adjudicators gave reasoned opinions on the winning, and some other, photos which amounted to a mini-tutorial.
It is expected that light refreshments will be available for the assembled multitudes.
Meanwhile, enjoy the show (from 10 February till 2 March)
