This was Mícheál Martin's first European Council as Taoiseach. Heads of State or Government (HOSG) turned up masked, though some of them were not wearing them properly.
ReplyDeleteNormally on the way in, the HOSG is faced with a battery of press, national and international. Today it is just a lone cameraman. So, just a few words and no heckling.
When the Taoiseach enters the chamber, an assistant point out to him where to sit (or whatever).
He exchanges a few words with Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen and eventually sits down at the Irish seat.
Before the proceedings start the girls (not all of them) pose for a shot - Sopie, Ursula, Angela and Sanna.
Then the cameras get thrown out and the Council gets down to business.
