I am reminded of an expression I came across in a diary I read recently where the diarist described being approached by a man "in a state of inarticulate inebriation". Now, there's a bit of stylistic writing for you. Made me smile. Particularly as I think I know who he was referring to.

While I'm here, if you do watch the video, keep an eye out for which of the four cars involved on the night was claimed to be both driven and driverless. I had two very good English teachers in school.Pólóhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08661092894104384856noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19109033.post-48162474137374967062021-03-13T12:16:03.706+00:002021-03-13T12:16:03.706+00:00My (peripheral) involvement was simply that I once...My (peripheral) involvement was simply that I once met Richard Cobb, who was a very distinguished historian of the French Revolution. He was acting as extern examiner in UCD during my time as a history student there, and with some other students I was invited to meet him informally one evening. Sadly, he was spectacularly inebriated by the time we arrived at the house where he was staying. A very enthusiastic audience, as borne out by the lively Q&A that followed.

I was thrilled to have Rene & Jim Cumiskey in the audience. They became part of the story when their car had a problem in Shankill many, many, years ago.

Felix Larkin unfortunately couldn't make it but he's checked out the video and reminded me that, after a fashion, he too is part of the story.

Check out the video here

Pólóhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08661092894104384856noreply@blogger.com
