Congratulations to Dáithaí C (below) for spotting this one.

Well, that didn't last long. Clearly these prophylactic phallic projectiles are still as memorable as when I first saw them and thought they should, in all modesty, be covered up. That was pre-Vatican II.

This is a tricky one as the colour scheme has altered slightly since the photo was taken (some many years ago).

Looks like one of the stylised bulrushes on the fountain in St. Stephen's Green, now oxidised green?

You were probably seeing phallic projectiles everywhere before Vatican II ... 1962 if I'm not mistaken.

BTW, I don't mind captcha checks. I have my own blog and I know what the spam can be like. But the ones here are horrendously difficult!
